This product, called halite in the Compendium of Materia Medica, comes from Chaka Lake located at the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which lies at an altitude of 3000m above sea level and was formed 250,000,000 years ago. With it as the base substance, iodine is added through a process of scientific technology.

According to the research conducted by the Environmental Research Center of the China Academy of Science, other than sodium chloride and iodine, more than ten kinds of trace elements which are beneficial to the health of human bodies can be found in this product. All these are valuable components in edible salts. This product was certified as environmentally friendly food by the Center of Chinese Environmentally-Friendly Development in 2001.
